Thommy was leaving so we had a toga party

Thommy Green has become one of my best friends over the last 7 years. We have been through a lot, girl troubles, weddings, street fights, a band, travel across the US, church, matching tattoos, and all all other sorts of wacky mis-adventures. On Tuesday, Thommy and his wife Krissi left Redlands to move to Saltlake City. Sunday night after church we decided to throw a party for them before they left. we also decided to make it a special party… a toga party!

On monday I sent out one text message to a list of our friends. 8 hours and 30+ people later this was going on at my house.

please note that not alcohol or drugs were present, this was a monday night, and the party only had 8 hours of planning time…

there was much soda and party happening that night. to top it off, We watched a bootleg dvd of 300 during the party. good times. I love my friends, I love Redlands.

p.s. you never realize how many tattoos you and your friends have until you are all standing around wearing nothing but bed sheets.

New blog

I have gone away from my home made blogging software and embraced the multiuser version of wordpress. I went with the multi user version so I could offer blogs to the members of notpopular.com. My wife Amy is the first one to help me test it out. Please visit her blog and tell me what you think of the new blog system.

gmail, the spam fighter

Some people fear google and their awesome power over the internet. I however, love Google and praise them for what they are going.

I have had a gmail account for some time, but before that I had a personal email address associated with my domain name. Over the last 5 years, my personal email has become useless due to spam. Spam is the price of running a popular (or in this case, a notPopular) website.

I dont know how many times people have sent me something and it just gets lost in the flood of spam.
enter gmail

gmail has an awesome feature that allows you to check you existing email through the gmail service. As an added bonus (the part that excites me the most), they have an awesome spam filter.

From my tests, google catches 90% of the spam that gets sent to me. 20-30 pieces of spam a day is much better then 200-300. On top of that I can check my gmail from my phone or any computer I want.

I highly suggest you filter your pop3 based emails through gmail. Sorry AOL users, AOL doesnt offer pop3 access, so no gmail for you 🙁
