Bury Your Dead DVD (05/15/2005)

I wrote this on may 15, but im just getting around to posting it

Ive been working hard on things lately. I feel like I have so many things going on, I get one night a week to work on each one.

In the past week, I have added two new features to notpop: "notify admin" and message board spell check.

Both explain themselves, the notify admin will send me an email with information about a problem a user is experiencing, so I can fix the situation.

The spell check is really cool. I have wanted A spell check feature for years on notPop. I stumbled across a javascript/php/linux application that would allow me to do finally have one. It uses php to power a linux binary called "aspell", the javascript will replace the misspelled word. It works really good.

Last night I went to the bury your dead DVD video shoot at chain reaction. I pushed my way to the very front of the crowd. During the first song, big Eric threw his guitar and accidentally smashed Matt in the head. There was blood everywhere. I got a bunch of blood on me. For the last few songs, I did some stage dives. The show was super fun. Im all beat up today though. I have bruises all over me from being pushed by the crowd, and having kids headwalk/stagedive on me. Its all in good fun though. Im glad I went. I think the DVD will be pretty good.

Ive also been working a bunch on my house. Its really coming together. I think Im almost done with all of the dry wall work. That means that I can get it all textured, and then I can paint, and then get the flooring put in! Before I do that, I need to put my master bathroom all together. Its still all ripped a part.

I like working on my house so much, that I want to buy another house, an old beater, fix her up and either rent it or sell it off. I think it would be way fun, and a good way to make some money. I could also employ some of my friends to do some of the labor for me, giving them a job, and also helping me out. Its a win win situation! Anyone have a beat up house they want to sell for cheap?

Getting old (05/14/2005)

I wrote this on may 14th, but im just now getting around to posting it

There was a show at the church on Friday. It was a good time. I was still beat up feeling from the Bury Your Dead show, but that didnt stop me from having a good time at the church show. It was probably the roughest show at the church so far. I got a nice fist to the side of my head that really rung my bell. Massive matt had to take me outside until i could see straight again. Later that night Joey managed to kick me really good in the shoulder and basically give me a dead arm. I swear, Im getting to old to mosh. I dont care what the Throwdown lyrics say!

I went out and ordered a new bathroom vanity and custom counter top. That stuff isnt cheap, let me tell you! Eh, you buy it once and you have it for ever I guess, and its really nice stuff. Im trying to figure out what to do with the wet bar in my living room area, I dont know how to design it. This week i finished framing in, dry walling, and adding bull nose to around the new garden window. I also finished patching some holes i made running the coax, as well as finished sanding the ceiling downstairs. I dont know if i need to hire someone with a texture gun or not to finish the ceiling. Im going to do some tests on some scrap sheets of dry wall and see if i can do it myself. If I can, it will save me some money which is good.

I really need to work on notpop. The members are starting to revolt. I dont blame them. Half the reason notpop was born was out of a revolt because i didnt like the features that makeout club offered. That and I wanted to stretch my wings and create a large scale website that could live on it own. Now i feel like Dr. Frankenstein. My monster has grown out of control and I need to do something before I lose all control. I have a lot of tricks up my sleeve though. I have a whole composition book full of ideas for notpop and pseudo code on how to put it all together. The trick is finding the time to do it!

Its also gotten tricky to update things on the site… my work has blocked all access to this server. suck.

Pale Horse (05/19/2005)

I wrote this on may 19th, but I am just posting this now

Today during lunch I stopped by del taco to grab a bite to eat. I saw some kid in camo shorts and tattoos in the corner, along with some other similar looking guys. After I ordered my food, I realized who it was. It was the band Pale Horse all the way from Connecticut. They had played the church 2 nights earlier. I thought they were on their way to Vegas after they played. Apparently the show got shifted back a night, so they stayed in Redlands all yesterday. Thom put them up at his house.

I ate lunch and hung out with those guys. I bought a cd and a shirt from them to support them on tour. Its cool because I wanted to buy merch at the show, but I didnt have any cash on me. I really like their music.

I really like the fact that we have a venue in town and that we can help out touring bands. Im learning that actions really speak louder then words when you extend friendship and hospitality to people. When youre a small band on the road youre basically homeless, and living out of the van for weeks on end, and most of the time really broke on top of it. Im glad that Redlands and kids from xdeathstarx can extend the favor and spread the blessings that we have had. More times then I can remember have had people we didnt really know let us sleep at the place, shower, and feed us when we had no place to go.

primer (circa 06/04/2005)

I wrote this in early june, but im just getting around to posting this

I saw this product on HGTV, called insulad, its a paint additative that adds insulation properties to the paint. They say that by adding their product to paint or primer you can improve the insulation of a room up to 20%. I figured what the heck it wont hurt anything, so I ordered some and tried it out.

yesterday I got the paint insulation in the mail, and I decided the celing of my downstairs was good enough to primer. All the dry wall patches had been made, and every thing had been sanded several times and it was smooth for the most part.

It took a lot longer then I thought it would to prime everything. I got it all over myself. Good primer doesnt clean up like latex paint does, it sticks to everything. In the shower I scrubed my arms until they were almost bleeding.

After I was done, I hung out for a little but then went to sleep. When I woke up the next morning, I had a crazy headache and my nose was really messed up. It was kind of hard to breath also. I felt like I was going to puke when i was getting dressed. It was only when I went downstairs that I realized that we had locked the house up, including all the doors and windows before amy and I went to sleep. The fumes from the freshly primed celing had no where to go except hang out in the house while we slept. I imediatly opened the doors and turned on some fans. I wonder how many brain cells I killed while I was sleeping

At the expence of some brain cells and my general health, The downstairs is looking good though. Im really excited to see it start coming together. The next step is getting a hopper gun and an air compressor and spraying some light texture on the celing to had all the spots that arnt 100% even.

Today Im home from work sick. I have a crazy feaver, and Im going out of my mind. Im going to go a head and post some of the things I have ment to for about a month now.
